It is what some are calling 'epistemic closure'. The Right has constructed an alternate media framework. Between Fox News, talk radio and the blog-o-sphere, they have a vast echo chamber that marches in lock-step. The amusing thing is that they style themselves as independent thinkers and those to the left of them as programmed zombies. The fact that the reality is a polar opposite doesn't faze them because their alternate universe keeps repeating their comforting lies. A problem is that their closure makes them think they are a majority. The last election is a prime example. Mittens kept throwing out red meat for the base and those not plugged into their universe got really confused. Things like Obama avoiding calling Benghazi a terrorist action for example. Or the interpretation of "you didn't build that". Or, well, much of Mittens campaign.
