No it is not practical. Although I am a socialist at heart, still individuals have to have the freedom to make their own mistakes. We cannot have government controlling everything.

As I keep saying over and over and over, it all boils down to education.

Go look at research on who eats well, exercises and watches their health best.

It is the informed person. The more educated one is, the longer they live. Period.

We should make sure school lunches are healthy and any other normal government food programs, but when it comes to feeding the masses with food stamps they must be allowed to make their own decisions within reason.

I would be in favor of government programs to help the poor design inexpensive healthy meals, but that is about as far as I would take it.

You also have the matter of dignity. The right wing always wants to supplant the social safety net with charity which never worked, but one of the worst aspects of that is the loss of individual dignity.
