Here's a few hardware items Apple gets credit for popularizing: (without being first; but being first to mass market) 3.5 floppy laser printing bitmap display mouse keyboard-free phone lots more But they have purposely been late to release software until it was ready: app store and copy/paste in iOS being the best example EDIT: I'm confident that an API for touchID is in that category
