By speaking to various people in Sevastopol, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, or Chernovitz etc., my sense is confusion and fear of the unknown. Many just cry of despair and fear of the unknown

Many fear Svoboda to come to power and other extremist parties others try to convince me that all this is US intervention to weaken Putin etc.,

None of them expressed their desire to have Yanukovych back or to be "liberated or annexed" to Russia. Those are independent people some in business or academics or plain employees.

Most are depressed and frightened and do not want Russian intervention all they want is a better life ordinary simple life without the need to pay bribes. All are very sad and crying

As to political adherence the views are all over the place from joining the EU to stay independent to be be as before close to Russia out of fear of fascism which I think is imaginary,

Not even one person from those I speak too, wants to be part of Russia, even that at least one person has relatives in Krasnodar

IMHO the US and EU must do much more for those 46 or47 million leaderless people, many of which where frighten by wrong propaganda, there is way too much suffering for the whims of despots, from or supported by Russia

It is all a power play with little national economic benefits of power hungry greedy and selfish psychopaths that try to cover up their leadership failures and economic policy failure
