Thomas,

RE: "My question: do you wish that you had...."

In a recent post, I mentioned that I had "hindsight blues." It is clear now what the recent highs were and that we are visiting some of '96 and '97 lows. I don't believe that I would have exited at the highs and would be sitting with 100% cash now if I decided to trade. The risk of selling at a "top" is that it could still continue up further for a significant while. The key to selling is the amount of assets at risk as a % of ones total assets. I have a very small %(4-5%) of my total assets invested in stock, so I am inclined to risk returning profits for the chance of 5-10 times gains. I missed this year, but I suspect that unless I get up the nerve to increase my investment significantly, I will miss selling again. My goal is to sell once, and I have now missed two chances in 97. The summer rise made my spring inactivity look correct, but now I sit with egg on my face. I will be buying more.

Cary
