You do realize that the only reason she said that was because of the way Dubya sat on his hands when Russia invaded Georgia. And Grandpa was highly incensed.

The idea of getting militarily involved with Russia over the Ukraine or Georgia, Belarus is already in Russia's orbit, is insane. Especially over the Crimea, which is where Russia has a major naval base on the Black Sea. The Crimea has been a treasured possession of Russia for well over a century. Khrushchev game control over the Crimea to Ukraine because he loved the country and was trying to make up for what Stalin did. As long as the Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, no problem.

Military action is out of the question. Arming the Ukraine is also a bad idea.

It doesn't mean we are totally helpless, though. Things could be done and arguably should have been done with respect to Georgia. We should get off our duffs and build LNG terminals in the US and Europe. Sell the NG are prices lower than the Russians are. That would blow a big hole in their budget. Encourage Europe to frack shale to produce their own gas. Considering that Russia is not above playing games with supply, they should go for it.
