I teach kids who don't have enough to eat. They eat at school because they don't have food at home. Any time something comes up that requires money, I have to come up with a workaround, or pay out of my own pocket for them. I'm sure it's hard for you to believe, but these kids don't have 10 dollars a month. They have no money. Not even for the things most of us take for granted- like food. I'm not talking about ALL my students- it's a small percentage, but it's at least 2-3 per class.
