To all: I was just listening to someone speaking with a person on a cellular phone. Half of the conversation went like, "I can't hear you, you are breaking up. You are going to have to pull over on top of a hill somewhere so I can understand you. Damn, lost him again." Hills, trees, buildings and numerous other obstructions between the cellular user and their tower seem to be an insurmountable problem for land based cellular phones. We have all talked about the enormous possibilities of satellite based cellular networks with worldwide travellers and in countries where there is no phone service available. However, is'nt there a additional market with the standard cellular user that is fed up with major static and dropped calls? Satellite telecommunications always have a tower (satellite) overhead without obstructions, would'nt this eliminate these problems?
