Solon and the other Randian Disciples think they're really upholding the highest moral standard when they act in a self-serving manner. Of course if you look up what it means to be self serving you find the opposite is true. They're simply in it for themselves.

As an atheist yourself I don't see what objection you can raise to that or why they should be obliged to act otherwise.
