"Why do gangs exist? It's because poor males are raised without working fathers. "

I lived in a barrio in Oceanside for a decade run by a local Hispanic gang. They had been founded by veterans returning from WWII. By the time I moved in, they were third or fourth generation. The fathers all worked, and for the most part all the gang members had jobs. But, they shot members of other gangs that tried to sell drugs on their turf, and vice versa. It was more like a club that packed heat and fought with other clubs. I respected them, and they left me alone.

"Knowland said the Varrio Posole Locos or Posole is a predominately Hispanic street gang with its origins rooted in three Oceanside families — the Englebrechts, the Morenos and the Jaimes. The Posole gang has approximately 300 members, a good portion of whom are related, and operates in the Eastside neighborhood, he said."

You are extremely ill-informed. Gangs are a reaction by those maltreated by the society they live in, as a form of self-defense.
