Hey Skane, what if I told you I was only kidding about Granny Clampett and that I'm actually a buxom blonde with a thin waist and long legs? Would it matter as long as I'm on YOUR side? I sort of got the feeling that some of you might have been thinking "phew-wee Granny Clampett" so I decided to give you a different visualization! Now it's up to you to figure out which one is the most accurate!!! I'll still love you tomorrow, I promise!
Let's talk about Sunrise and the kind of people they're bringing on board! I did a little checking to see who these new people are that's joining the team. This announcement that R. Dale Bowerman has joined the Board of Directors made me curious. This guy's pretty interesting!
He's 58 years old, has a BBA, Accounting, from West Texas State University. Since 1994, he has been the President and CEO of Firstcare, a health maintenance organization operating in Texas and is equally owned by five independent hospital systems throughout the state. This HMO was conceived and developed by the management team at High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, Texas and then developed into a statewide, multi-hospital system venture by Mr. Bowerman and the team he recruited.
From 1973 to 1994, he was Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations, of High Plains Baptist Health Systems. He developed the hospital from third and last place in town in terms of volume and quality to first place in less than five years and kept it first. HPBHS is a full service healthcare system with an annual budget in excess of $200 million. The system's operations included the following: High Plains Baptist Hospital with 380 beds and related outpatient facilities; four medical office buildings housing over 100 physicians; an Urgent Care Center, an Industrial and Occupational Medicine Center; a Durable Medical Equipment sale and leasing company; a closed pharmacy operation which has nine stores; a physicians' services company which places computers in physicians offices and provides other services to the physicians, and currently has over 100 physicians in the network; a full service fitness and health center, and a full service 106 bed hotel. In addition, he served on the boards of all of the above entities.
His affiliations include Carrington Laboratories, Inc., of Irving, Texas where he currently serves on the Board of Directors since January 1991. Carrington is an emerging research-based pharmaceutical and medical device company engaged in developing naturally-occurring, complex carbohydrates, other nature-based therapeutics and oral technology products; and in manufacturing and marketing products for the management of wounds and for consumer products made from naturally-occurring ALOE VERA L. Carrington currently markets more than 65 application-specific products and has protection for more than 15 therapeutic categories with 105 patents issued, allowed or pending in 25 countries.
He is also affiliated with Continent of Great Cities Ministry, Abilene, Texas; currently serves on the Board. This is a ministry which trains, equips, sends and supports missionaries to South America.
His civic service credentials includes serving on the President's Advisory Forum for West Texas State University; serving as a board member of the American Cancer Society and initiating and directing the annual Sword of Hope Tennis Tournament for several years.
Whew! I'm tired just listing all the things he's involved in. Imagine trying to keep up with this guy!!!
I must tell you that I am a shareholder of Carrington Labs. I did not know anything about this guy until SNRS issued their press release. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to find out more. It might be worth taking a look at Carrington (CARN). It, too, is a top notch company and if SNRS and CARN have him on their boards, then it tells me something! Things are just starting to turn around for Carrington and it's probably not a bad spot to place some funds. I've got a good size position and adding on at these levels!
This is just another example of where Sunrise is going. Top Gun all the way!!!
Just thought I share with you what I'd found!!!
Back to snooping around............
