Dear Reg:
Do you think that because of MSFT's NT/Enterprise strength that their Asian contagion will be minimal and perhaps they will surprise to the upside or are we seeing the beginning of a PE adjustment from 50x to 30x beginning here. That would result in an 85-90 MSFT share price if it happened. As it is the analysts are only predicting 25% growth next year. Any miss will be severely dealt with as I recently experienced with ORCL. You are right about ORCL they should give away the DB license and move in for the profits with the vertically intergrated applications and service. It appears they ORCL will be a big factor in TV on demand media management. Yes they should get the penetration and not try and milk the cow at both ends. If the bundled 8 w/ vert. apps. they could find themselves succeeding as MSFT w/ their suites.

back to MSFT- notwithstanding the genius of the Gates person is there still an expanding market for MSFT software such that it will justify these lofty PE's. I ask this just having lost $100,000 on paper to ORCL's latest dive and would hate not to learn from prior mischance

Regards,

John Dowd
