True and in those days of segregation you had strong two parent households, no welfare, no food stamps, no section eight, no drugs, no rap music glorifying that pathetic culture, plus the kids rarely crossed the line as they actually feared adults. This seemed to far outweigh the negative effects of outright racism . I'm also thinking due to the shared pain of both the Great Depression and WW 2 that impacted all in that period it made people far more resilient and self sufficient. I am hoping the age of Obama will serve as an inspiration for so many young kids that there is a way out...'yes you can be cool by staying straight and in school.'
