Plus there has been almost zero competing products and none survived for significant length of time...

I still have Quicken records from 1990's... so far I did not even need to cull the file.

But overall the forced upgrades are annoying. So far I have been lucky not to run into any significant bugs when upgrading. A lot of people run into those. For anyone upgrading, I'd suggest waiting at least 3-5 months after release for fixes.
