3/7/14 Contest update
As was the case last week, biotechs were again subjected to sudden, periodic Bear raids, with a particularly nasty attack late Thursday.
Nonetheless, the Contest median did manage to climb higher and is now up 31.73% YTD (vs. up 28.01% YTD a week ago). The more vulnerable Nasdaq Biotech Index, however, did get bruised and finished the week up 14.35% YTD (vs. up 16.68% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 3.82% YTD (vs. up 3.15% YTD a week ago).
JB118's portfolio had a boffo week and is back being Contest leader with a sensational 84.06% YTD gain. GENE’s portfolio, up 80.60% YTD, rode a super-energized TKMR to second place, while GUERL’s portfolio, up 80.54% YTD, was a hair behind in third place.
At Friday's close, all 46 Contest portfolios remained in the black and a striking 41 of the 46 were beating the NBI.
