Vision Systems SPD-smart "Energia" aircraft window technology

Energia facilitates the process of installing dimmable windows on new production and aftermarket aircraft – it requires no modifications to the aircraft’s existing electrical system because it is completely independent from the cabin’s wiring. In addition to easy installation, it is easy to maintain as the solution includes use of durable and scratch-resistant composite glass.

Vision Systems will present two breakthrough innovations: VisiStream, the new solution for IFE & connectivity, and Energia, the first self-powered dimmable window.

The VisiStream solution comes to respond specifically to the growing demand of customers forsimultaneous streaming from a great number of wireless tablets. This unique solution includes one single box allowing AVOD connection from up to 100 PEDs simultaneously, satcom connectivity for internet & e-mails (through Satcom 1 receiver), and moving map. The system also enables the sending of information to the passengers’ PEDs, with priority data flows for safety videos or announcements. Options include the media content update via WiFi and a real time digital video surveillance system.

Vision Systems will also present a unique green solution for solar protection, Energia. Energia is a dimmable window producing its own energy from the sun thanks to the WysipsGlass® technology, consisting of transparent photovoltaic cells integrated into the glazing that allows energy storage in a battery to provide the dimmable window with electricity.
