Carter's worst foreign policy blunder is what caused the Mullah's to return to Iran and create the uprising. The US State Department had been providing payments to the Mullahs as long as they stayed out of Iran and her affairs. When Carter cancelled the bribes they had no money to support the lavish lifestyles to which they had become accustomed. They returned to Iran and lead the rebellion that toppled our ally. They ended up the power behind the throne in a farce of a democracy. Fifty years later his incompetence is still creating problems throughout the world. Obama's foreign policy incompetence will cause major disruptions for at least another fifty years.
