IMHO all those hearings in parliaments are nothing more than a political show for the various parliament members to express their own political view for the next elections, their support or opposition to the elected political leader (PM or President) policies and to gain more electorate points, as their remarks are widely disseminated.
True democracy and true justice lost its effectiveness long ago and transformed itself in another way of a "group dictatorship" of the electorate. Laws can be on the books and violated if you belong to the right group and pull the right ropes.
If you belong to this group you are showered with benefits if you are an outsider bad luck your voice is not heard no matter how right you are, or much you write or protest the "gatekeepers" or otherwise known as "staffers" have their own careerist interest at hearth and know how to filter what will advance them in their career if as a politician or lobbyist.
They learn the "ropes" that will advance them, can do whatever they want with the information received, file it, and not even mentioned it, give you useless advise. If they do not like what they hear even if it is true, they are very busy and overwhelmed with work and you are passed to another useless person.
The "staffers" are not elected administration officials but yield a lot of power in today so called democratic system, and can even control the press as no journalist will get access to any worthy press information from the staffer if he does not follow the rules invoked by the same staffer.
IN additions, many law violation can be arbitrary defined by law-enforcement authorities or regulators as "not of public interest" and not brought to justice. This also explains why so few where brought to trial after the last economic mayhem. No indictment against you, then no harm to your career and all is forgotten.
Lehman, AIG, Bear Sterns, Country Wide and scores of other institutions, are only few of the examples in the US, similar situation where or are world wide. |
