We have stories every bit as barbaric as what you saw on film- but they are happening now. And we could do something about them. You know after reading this discussion, I looked up "slavery today". First - what is defined as slavery? "The United States government considers trafficking in persons to include all of the criminal conduct involved in forced labor and sex trafficking, essentially the conduct involved in reducing or holding someone in compelled service." state.gov "0.3% of people in the world are slaves." theguardian.com "There Are More Slaves Today Than at Any Time in Human History" alternet.org Slaves in the US? "Between 14,500 and 17,500 people are trafficked into the United States every year" Other places? Where is it worst? policymic.com Visually - where is slavery prevalent? washingtonpost.com Rather than sitting in a theater to watch a movie- work with the many fine agencies doing something about terrible things happening now. Volunteer, donate money, work to get the word out about the terrible things going on- that's the way to change the world, imo. As the kids used to say - "Word". (What do they say now??? I'm so old. :-))
