Noront Resources Ltd. Drilling Update - Urban Township Windfall Lake Base Metal and Gold Project, Quebec
TORONTO, ONTARIO--Management of Noront Resources Ltd. (the "Company") has been advised by its joint venture partner, Alto Minerals Inc., that two (2) diamond drill holes have been completed on the Company's joint ventured Windfall Lake base metal and gold Project, Urban Township, Quebec. Alto is currently completing an exploration program over the claim group, as part of its agreement to earn its 50 percent interest in the project.
The first hole was drilled under a surface showing which averaged 9.0 grams per ton gold across 3.0 meters (9.9 feet) and was drilled to a depth of 221 meters (663) feet). Sulphide mineralization has been noted from the collar of this hole to the bottom. Hole number 2 has been completed to a depth of 234 meters (772.2 feet) and sulphide mineralization has also been observed for half of its length. Hole number 3, planned to a depth of 250 meters (825 feet) is expected to be completed by late Tuesday, December 9, 1997.
The core from each hole will be logged, sampled and sent to the lab for assay which, it is expected, will be by Friday, December 12, 1997. Assay results are expected within two weeks and will be reported as they are received.
