Nothing should be thrown out the car window. Couldn't agree more on that. We have recycling stations where I work- so all our bottles get recycled. But since children often use water bottles when there is substandard water at school, or when they go for sports, and because people do use water bottles at work, I'd say food stamp money going to water bottles is not a problem. I would like to see more infrastructure support for water fountains that filter water- so children can have safe water at schools. I'm not sure if you're aware just how many poor schools have unpalatable, or downright dangerous, drinking water. And let's not forget, during disaster prep people need bottled water too. I don't see this as a problem. We have a lot of real problems in this country, huge problems, and it seems to me this isn't one, and you aren't going to be able to do anything about it even if you continue to see it as one. Why don't you do what I'm going to do, and join Free the Slaves- the excellent organization mentioned in the post by Stock Puppy. There's an organization actually doing something about a situation I think we could all agree is horrible. The problem is clear, and you can help do something about it. So any time you think you might want to crusade about some small, relatively inconsequential thing, you could put some time into Free the Slaves.
