Hebrew scripture started as fireside tales that became codified with the invention of writing and then became a dead end. Every culture has independently come up with similar tales to bolster themselves and dispel fear against outsiders. The early tellers and writers would be surprised pleased that Brumar and Greg believe their tribal tales today.

What came down to the Romans was edited and politicized for their own use which made the Catholic church as much a legal system as a religious order. At least with the Catholic hierarchy there was a control base of educated people pulling the strings now any inspired lunatic with a bible can take a run at it.
