There was an article concerning Spartech that appeared in the Dec. 10 edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the day after earnings were announced. I won't reprint the whole article but there were a few interesting paragraphs worth viewing.

"Spartech now has 2125 employees at 26 plants in the U.S. and Canada.

Also, this summer, Spartech struck a sales and marketing alliance with Takiron Co. Ltd. of Osaka, Japan, a slightly larger plastics company. Each will market products of the other that it doesn't specialize in. For example, Spartech will sell Takiron's flooring and flame-retardant plastic. Takiron will sell Spartech's 120-inch wide sheets of plastic that are used for gas-station signs.

Buechler said Tuesday that he is mulling over three other acquisitions and is weighing proposals from two customers to set up production in South America.

Spartech continues to build business through "product transformation," finding ways to use plastic in place of metal, fiberglass, wood and other materials.

First Analysis Securities Corp. is targeting the stock to hit $22 by next August."
