All, sorry to have taken so long to get back with more news from the Jacob Javitts floor. My contact called again and stated that he visited a few other booths but nothing else jumped out at him except Nortel. Said they had a Corporate Intranet thingy that was attached to a website icon, you clicked on the icon and immediately had voice response from the other end. Had application for call centers, e-commerce, etc. Said it was too cool.
Vocaltec he claimed was absolutely pitiful, was a joke, as he put it.
He did end up going back to Franklin's booth and made more calls, all of which he said were much better then the one that he and I had. In his own words he stated that the call that he and I had must have been a fluke. In fact he called several other people and even left messages on voice mail boxes and said it was crystal clear.
Speaking of which he said that there were a few people from Lucent in the booth that were totally blown away by the Tempest's quality. Also some Exec. VP of Business Developement from another company was also overheard as saying that "of all the DVG's he'd tested, Franklin's Tempest was the only one he gave recogonition as having the quality that he would feel comfortable in endorsing or recommending to his superiors for corporate consideration"
One last note, he said that Franklin's staff at the show were top notch, well informed, and he was proud of the professional way in which they conducted themselves. Their enthusiasm he said was contagious.
The only negative he had to say was that the booth lacked any pizzazz, and was very plain vanilla. In fact he said that if he had not been specifically looking for them, he would have passed them by.
Although, he did say that the lack of cosmetics didn't seem to hurt their attendance. As he claims, Franklin's booth was jammin when he returned after lunch. Went on to say that the entire show got jammed pack by noon, and because of that he wasn't able to visit a few of the other competitors booths, and decided to leave the show early.
