Of course it isn't Champagne - not from the district in France of Champagne only!!! That said, Moldavia doesn't make Cognac either - for similar reasons. Now, back in the good and safe iron curtain times, "Russian Cognac and Russian Champagne" were items heard about but not really known in the West - except for the reputation of being the very best - and said to drive the girls crazy! Krimsekt is no better than cheap German sekt, actually I have from my Buddy Bob, who spent a lot of time down there with his back then Ukrainian Beauty Tamara, that the wine is not really drinkable... As for the Moldavian brandy, I tried it several times and it is a lot better than...'Christian Brothers', whatever that is in our days, which these days is but an old brand name with the content bought somewhere... /Taro
