"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion, it should transcend personal God & avoid dogma & theology. Covering both the Natural & the Spiritual it should be based on the religious sense arising from all things natural & spiritual in a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description, if there is any Religion that can cope with Scientific needs it would be Buddhism." ~ Albert Einstein
There's a great deal of "spirit" & passion in science, shall we break out the Carl Sagan & Einstein quotes again to jar the aging brain cells? Einstein felt that Buddhism was superior for it encompassed a greater scope, less encumbered with frozen dogmas limited by human cultural milieu only recently freed from the tyrannies of dynasties of monarchs, kings & caliphs.
In Science theres the spirit of awe, inquiry, discovery with an accommodating stoic humility when trials do not add up to the desired hoped for results. And the ability to reasonably accept what the data shows & accept changes where change needs to be made. One can say focus, tenacity, perseverance, charity, self sacrifice & great patience are virtues are hallmarks of those humans who choose the pursuit of science. In medicine the achievements are myriad & demonstrated daily in alleviating human & animal suffering. Few priests or mullahs can claim the same, unless they have degrees in medicine.
Isn't this, and aren't these facts what you hate most? |
