While I'll let Steve speak for himself, I will tell you that I am non partisan and, while I didn't expect Brown to succeed, I think he has done a good job.

And I think it is important to look at the basis of his success and learn from it. First, he has controlled spending. He'll say it himself -- that's the first thing you have have to do. And secondly, having controlled spending, he raised taxes.

It is important to note that our legislators in DC have been totally UNWILLING to control spending. I have stated here time and again that I believe taxpayers in the US are willing to pay more taxes once they see a bona fide effort to control spending. I am and everyone I know is. But we're not stupid people; it is obvious that raising taxes today is nothing but waste.

If our federal legislators and our president show a willingness to restrain spending in meaningful, serious ways, show us. Then you'll have our support.

There is a very big difference, too, in raising taxes on a population which supports is versus raising taxes on one which doesn't.
