Cisco and aatkinson, of course you are right that ACMI and CYTC aren't competitors. One more case of "Ready, fire, aim!" I should never post over my morning coffee, when I am pressed for time and don't have time to thoroughly research my replies.

I have been following Cytyc for a short while, and there are so many folks fighting for the cytology dollar, I had ACMI confused with another company. Sorry! On more thorough research, I see how ThinPrep and Accumed's system are complementary

What I was really reacting to was the citation to analyst estimates in your researrch. It seems that so often, small, growing companies attract one or two enthusiastic analysts, and the result is a unanimous buy rating -- which doesn't mean much. So I really don't put any faith in these ratings at all. Last year, EDS had 16 strong buy ratings -- for an average rating of 1 on Zacks. It had the best rating for a heavily followed stock on the Street, and was cited for that fact by Smart Money. Pretty impressive -- but they missed their earnings and the stock dropped from the high 50's to 32 in the space of two weeks. So much for analyst ratings.

Anyway, sorry for the ill-informed post and thanks for the courteous correction.

Cheers

Chuck Edwards
