I've noticed that people that live in Canada and have lots of money head to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester or Phoenix when it looks like they have looming medical issues.

If you're sick and ill you can wait a long long time for a diagnosis in Canada and it is a cost benefit to the system if you peg out prior to treatment.

A colleagues sister is in charge of surgery at a Moscow hospital and that family traveled there recently for a surgical issue. They complain about hospital cleanliness and after-care but say surgical intervention is light years ahead of Canada.

The only country I have to compare Canada to is Cuba and I can honestly say Cuba was surprisingly good.

Maybe Obama should lift the embargo on Cuban doctors who earn $35-$50 per month to subsidize his system. Give them a house and car and let the Cuban doctors work to earn citizenship over a certain time period and free university education for their kids. The cost savings would be in the billions.
