AS to his support of the "civil rights act" What act? I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but "civil rights" is not a hot issue for me. I'm agnostic on the issue. >>

You are showing an amazing lack of information and or sensitivity about the suffering African Americans endured under 100 years of segregation in the south.

The African American community enshrines MLK for his role in freeing them with pictures on their walls in many homes and often accompanied by JFK and Bobby.

What was done to African Americans in the south under segregation was so horrible we must never forget about it. People lived in constant fear and poverty. It was horrible for them.

I am puzzled how anyone in this country isn't clear on the importance of the 1964 civil rights act. It was a as important as giving the women the right to vote.
