Below are my trades from 3/8/2014 - 3/21/2014

Most of the activity reflects harvesting losses and/or building up my cash reserves.

Sells

Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP (NYSE: BWP) - peeled off high priced shares & booked loss
Golar LNG Ltd. (NasdaqGS: GLNG) - sold 50% of shares bought 12/2013 for 21% gain w/ dividend.
EXCO Resources Inc. (NYSE: XCO) - sold 50% of position for 11% gain w/ dividend
Zoetis Inc. (ZTS) -NYSE - Sold shares spun off from PFE w/ 5% gain. proceeds put into KMI

Buys

Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI) - upped position by 10% w/ shares in IRA

I also had one issue in the IRA that reported bankruptcy - (GMX RESOURCES 9.25% PFDP) which was a preferred. That is why it is important to diversify. It still represented a 2% hit to the IRA portfolio total.

Every buy made for the IRA & ROTH portfolios must pay some type of dividend. Buys in the taxable portfolio are given higher priority if they are tax deferred and/or MLPs that have preferential tax treatment. Most new buys are "value" income producers. From time to time I will speculate on undervalued special situation stocks but both the time frame hold (not more than 12-18 months) and value opportunity (at least 50% undervalued) must meet my fair value criteria.

I have two of these candidate stocks that I s/d be harvesting gains from soon: Industrial Services of America, Inc. (NasdaqCM: IDSA) and Goldfield Corp. (NYSE MKT: GV). I sold 20% of IDSA earlier this month (w/ 127% gain) and plan to peel off the remaining shares at prices above $5.00/share.

GV has been a work in progress. Their long awaited earnings come next week which should reflect their restructure and new growth prospects from their Utility Service division. The stock is up 45% from my avg cost (@ $1.65/share) but I expect this one to double again in the next few quarters. If earnings surprise to the upside, I will peel off 20% of my shares at $3.25/share or higher. Long term if their new Service Utility division confirms their growth prospects to the market, I expect to see the high single digit price for this small cap stock.
