He lives in the alternate media world the Right has created. Between talk radio, Fox News and various web sites, a number of which claim to be news but also seems to make up a large portion of it and things like Conservapedia, they have crafted a vast echo chamber where they can let their inner loons fly free. Because the epistemic closure keeps reinforcing their loons, they have come to believe that is reality. So someone who isn't plugged into that alternate universe and see Obama as somewhat right of center. If you are plugged into it, you can see him as a far left socialist bent on destroying America because.. . Ok, it starts to get a little hazy as to the why. Still, it illustrates the problem. Either they are just totally disconnected from reality, like harris, or they think the country is much further to the Right than it actually is. When you look at polls as to where the majority in the country stand on such issues as abortion, social security, food stamps, unemployment insurance and a whole wide range of issues, most Americans align strongly with the left of center. The bulk of the stances taken by the Right align with only a small number of Americans.
