Meta, you are like Pavlov's dogs.
But thanks for making my point. There is more than a touch of paranoia in that: <I guess the real world must seem a strange far away place to you...> It is nice to have such a very wide moat to keep you away. NZ must seem far away to you. To us, the world is just an A380 ride away, we go everywhere. Unfortunately, that means that when something goes wrong, there is a Kiwi there - such as in the cockpit of flight 93, in the missing Malaysian 777, in the Tower of London when the stinking IRA decides it's a good idea to bomb tourist children.
When Gorby took over the USSR, the Pavlovian droolers continued with their attacks instead of recognizing the change and changing behaviour. Putin sensibly understands the underlying malevolence of Victoria Nuland et al, and probably thinks of Napoleon and Adolf and is mindful of Genghis Khan too as NATO tries to roll right through Moscow.
When Gorby was unable to glasnost and perestroika the place fast enough and the public realized he was not one for mass murder, they declared independence. Americans think they won the cold war and caused the collapse. They did not cause the collapse, they simply watched it happen. Now that Putin has reasonably reversed a couple of little bits of it, there's nothing you can do about it. If you were the agent of the collapse, how come you can't make it stick?
China was on the brink, as the public challenged them as they challenged Gorby. China's bosses were not so worried about rolling tanks over the top of opponents. They soon cleared Tiananmen Square though there was some diffidence until they put the right murderers in charge.
You are an excellent manifestation of the mindset I described. Drool on.
Meanwhile, Putin's tanks are lined up around Ukraine: euronews.com Nato is worried though Ukraine is not in Nato so it's not really Nato's business. Maybe Mr Ponytail is going to get his comeuppance.
