Ali, if street views an acquisition as "accretive", share value of acquirer may actually rise (witness WCOM/MCIC merger). But the scope of the Goodnet acquisition is on a much, much smaller scale, and hence not as likely to have an immediate effect. There's also news tonight on AT&T, rumors stonger than ever that they're about to acquire either Teleport or Intermedia in order to get a CLEC of national scope. Current market cap of the favorite contender, Teleport, is just short of 4 billion, compared to 1 billion for WCII. Bill
