I think basic reason Asia drops so badly when Wall St. does is that their only hope out of a recession/depression is by beggering the US by flooding US with their newly hyper cheap goods, which we pay for by trading for T-bills --- borrowing from them (current accounts deficit goes to record levels, soon by far).

So-- when US markets go down, indicating lack of financial strength here--they get REALLY worried.

The rise of the dollar from here is all about adjustments so that Asian overcapacity gets used by US consumers....to the detriment of who? Anyone? Noone? Just more consumption? Or do US producers get slammed? Perhaps way more than anyone is now publically predicting?
