yeah so my recollection of Cuban is from the same period that he bought Box.
He had taken a position in an also-ran search company called Mamma.
There was some sort of secondary and Cuban decided to sell and this SEC case is around that incident.
Even So, Mark Cuban Is Probably Glad He Got Rid Of His Mamma.com Stock

But the real news here is that around the same time period (2004), when Cuban owned Mamma, he was making some very public AND WRONG statements about search, and the potential of search. Among his misses,
- he missed the cash cow of paid search because mamma was using the old yahoo style impression ads (sold to ad agencies primarily)
- he missed the "winner takes all" model in search where everyone uses the same engine
- he thought Google was a short and was shouting it from the rafters- this was in 2004.

We all make mistakes but this guy is a perpetual loudmouth and so offbase its offensive. He is not a SV player, he lives in Texas. He should stick with his criticism of Dairy Queen.
