Moonshine, if a good batch, is a maximum of 190 proof, ie 95% ethanol. The shiners cut it by half to sell it. Grain alcohol is not moonshine.....moonshine is made from a recipe (the shiners) of various grains and has a flavor designed by the shiner. Grain alcohol is pure ethanol and is sold, with a federal seal, for lab purposes....I know, I was a college lab assistant in charge of it in Pennsylvania (sold in state stores). It is taxed. Moonshine is made illegally to beat the tax. There is a reality show on cable callled "Moonshiners" which documents the life of shiners almost all of whom are in Gooberland.....Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, S. Carolina.... it's a different world and a very interesting show;, the competition among them and the cat and mouse game between the shiners and the cops... It's all around him and Harris has more trouble finding shine than finding a doctor for his mother.

The newspaper account (recent) is posted to you gives a good explanation...the grain alcohol is called moonshine by numbnutz like you who know no better... Your county now bans grain alcohol sales...I would guess the whole state does.
