These theoretical RNAonly organisms should have been more efficient if they could do without ribosomes.

RNA cannot contain as long an instruction set as DNA can. RNA does not have the redundant error checking on it's information storage (although it does have the equivalent of checksums).

Using your logic, a bicycle should out compete a race car at Nascar since it could do without gasoline.
