Pat; The float isn't that big and I think they must know they have better things to do with their $s than risk a buy- back in this environment.
Very few stocks can hold up against investors preferring cash. Fear is in the air and the fundamentals mean zilch.Earnings estimates are being shaved every day. In my opinion, the trades you mention can't work out in this atmosphere. All you can do is either go to cash or decide to risk it out, and pray, when the big bang finally hits and is over, that MCRE will hold up reasonably.
This market has been shakey since August. Don't fight the tape.
It took headlines on Asia to shake out this market and it looks like it will take some time before things settle down. And when it is all said and done, hope that MCRE can stay alive, keeps up with the times and comes up with products that will sustain a 25-30% rate of growth.
I truly believe this will be a difficult investment period ahead for a longer period than we can now estimate.
The needed basic adjustments for SE Asia will surely take a long while. Those in power want to hang onto it. They fear change since they're likely to get the boot. Look how long --7 years-- Japan has kept its head in the sand. The rest of APEC (except Singapore) crowd is no better ( in fact, their political climate is much worse). The needed changes are just alien to their political system and bureaucracies. Likely this will spread to India, China and Eastern Europe. Reasonably immune is tfhe US (I hope). Now how did I ever get started...? Oh well, just my thoughts while shaving....Lots of pundits and opinions making the rounds.
