BP1...think you hit the nail on the head as to the MUSE-VIAGRA issue. VVUS indicated that ramp up of future earnings would rely on new marketing campaign to begin in FEB 98 to expand VVUS recognition in ED market. They stressed that they need to have patients "get off the sofa" and go to physicians to address the problem. This is where they seem to feel VIAGRA issue could be beneficial in that the concept of a pill is much easier to grasp than the MUSE application and once the patient is in the hands of a physician for proper diagnosis, the more beneficial drug should be prescribed. VVUS CC indicated MUSE application covers a larger spectrum of ED than VIAGRA and could attract potential patients whose ED severity cannot be treated via the pill. The key is to get ED patients out of the closet so to speak and the pill may help in that aspect. Few notes on CC.. Believe I heard Ireland plant projected opening in 2yr time frame and New Jersey plant MCA approval anticipated JAN with FDA approval in 2Q. Sounded like current production/demand levels are at a plateau for US. Really wouldn/t address UK market with exception of 150g shipment recently sent to ASTRA. Seemed as though a few brokers were their to send a message to management not to let potential interuptions in production line or anything that could affect revenues go unheeded in the future. Don/t know how the "street" will react, but management seemed to hear the sentiment of brokers and I wouldn/t forsee this kind of slipup in the future without an earler warning. Anything less would be catastrophic to the stock. Overall reaction should be pretty well recieved but they will be watching very closely.
