Andy, I am not a very big fan of writing covered calls. I know steve will not like discussion in this issue, since he has made lot of money in
writing covered calls. The way I view it is that covered calls gives
you very UNLIMITED downside risk, but you can losse almost all of
the upside when your stocks makes a run. Covered calls are good for
stocks that remain flat lile GM, Ford. I was gettibg impatient
and wanted to write calls for ATML @25 when it was trading around
25. But instead I sold on half at 24.xx and the next half at 30.xx.
Now Iam waiting for a small pullback.
Trading in stocks is more flexible than trading in stocks, considering
the % of diferrence between bid and ask in calls, commission etc.

Unless you holdings are in millions and you want to avoid big
capital gains in short term holding of stocks, do trade in calls
than stocks
