Martin Luther was right on the money faith and reason are always opposed.

The goal of holy mother church was to say reason itself is a matter of faith and cannot be trusted. So who you going to trust? Your mind playing tricks on you or a system that gives you eternal rewards if you act accordingly...

A later writer of the bible made this clever passage up so future contributors can be proud of their future faithfulness.

John 20:29 attributes Jesus as saying…
"Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:
blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
The early minders of the Christian movement were good salesmen schooled in Greek dialectics and sophistry and were able to keep Christians marching and making them money for centuries.
