I see, well FWIW, Facebook Paper and Disney Movies Anywhere are completely new services launched as separate apps, hence the distinction. When they come to Android, they will also be standalone apps. But ok, I take your point that app updates could be considered the same if the apps do not have feature parity across platforms. Certainly, the background uploading of photos to Dropbox was a feature that came to android first, and in fact probably led to updating the IOS APIs to include background uploading first unveiled in iOs7. But I think the capabilities of the APIs available to developer are a separate discussion.

I personally think a healthy 3rd party app ecosystem is an important advantage for Apple, so this is definitely an issue that bears watching.
