I don't think so. McCain ran a bad campaign, and Romney wouldn't have fixed that. He was also the victim of the financial crisis, and, despite (or maybe because of) his background in private equity, Romney would not have been able to address that effectively. Nor would McCain have been able to listen to him. McCain is an idiot.
