A decade or so ago Francis Crick, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, released a proposal that life on Earth began when space aliens released some sort of proto-life on the planet. Now I personally don't think he actually thought that was the way it started, but he used the peer review system to show that his theory was proven just as well as any other of the time.

Just how do you think he "used the peer review system" to show this speculation was proven?

BTW it was longer than a decade ago.
