See, you do not understand democracy.

That law was passed by a democratically elected congress and the supreme court said it was legal.

That makes it democracy in action.

There is no system better than democracy that mankind knows of.

You are naive.

Do you think the ACA is a "manifestation of democracy" or has anything to do with our "collective decisions"? Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama made that decision. Against the will of the people as is now so evidently on display, where only 1/3 of the Senators who voted for it will still be in office after this election.

Where our constitution was violated in the creation of the law, and the law itself so bad the president cannot enforce it for fear of political devastation. The result is some 30 provisions have been "waived" illegally. Democracy, indeed.
