Every base is different. The shooter in this instance was a "soldier" although I don't
appreciate giving him the honor of that title. Soldiers aren't searched entering a military base. Back in the late 60s I was searched every day before entering a particular building they called "The Cage". The goal there was to be certain no cameras entered to protect secret equipment from being photographed. I was never searched on any base for weapons.

Maybe they thought you escaped from the cemetery? ;^)
