I am printing out your post for my pile of future possibilities--if we are still on this thread after everything is all shook out, remind me again.

I sure am glad I never bought any Korea Fund. John Templeton had all his relatives buying the Japan fund during the 1970s (as well as his own fund, of course) when it was deeply discounted and they made huge amounts of money. He also got his sister-in-law, as I recall, to buy some Mitsbuishi convertible bonds for maybe $50,000 and it wasn't long before they were worth $385,000.

The Korea Fund was a false analogy.
