James -- You're quite correct in assuming some "reads" on the Stockhouse board are computer generated. If Stockhouse is just counting "hits" it's very likely that the vast majority of "page views" are the results of an army of web crawlers indexing sites for hundreds of search engines both here and around the planet using advanced algorithms and machinery to "scrape" the net 24-7. There are all sorts of web bots out there using a wide range of sophisticated search priorities for semantics and key-words covering enterprise/sales, mobile/handheld, multimedia, bit torrent/P2P, finance/reporting, geography/maps, genealogy, cooking/recipes and so forth and so on. They literally "crawl" through every page on the WWW -- over and over. Many counted "reads" almost certainly include our national security agencies, though none of these "reads" are actually perused by human eyes, so your biggest audience is almost certainly dumb spider bots. If SI reported page "reads" like Stockhouse, I'm certain you'd see the same sort of numbers here.
