A Medicare rule was changed because of Obamacare:

CMS was now required by Obamacare to come up with a new rule which cut Medicare costs. Which CMS did by coming up with CMS 1599-F. This new, Obamacare-forced rule specified that a hospital stay can only be paid for by Medicare insurance if that stay “(1) expects the beneficiary to require a stay that crosses at least two midnights and (2) admits the beneficiary to the hospital based upon that expectation.”

This has become known in the world of doctors and hospitals as the “two midnight rule.”
